Headquarters
  DETAILS   The Hungarian association has one staff employee who runs the headquarters in Budapest (no employed managing director). The association holds quarterly executive meetings and furthers liasions with other health care professions and authorities. The association does not hold membership in any trade union.

Physiotherapy Education
  INFORMATION AND NUMBERS   The Hungarian association does not have an education department. There are 5 physiotherapy schools in the country. Since 1999 between 450 and 500 students aave graduated every year. The physiotherapy education results in an academic degree/diploma after 4 years of studies (4.200 hrs), which corresponds to 240 Hungarian credit units. Studies allow for postgraduates courses. Physiotherapists are involved in both teaching and research. There is no recognition of physiotherapy specialists.

Status of profession
  TITLE AND REGULATIONS ON THE PROFESSION   Professional Title/ Qualification: (Not specified) The title and the professional activity is protected by the state. The rules of professional conduct are determined directly by the state through national legislation. The physiotherapist must be state registrated and obtain a licence to practice. Hungary has established a code of ethics for physiotherapists. The national authority responsible for the physiotherapy profession in Hungarian is the Educational Ministry. Employment for physiotherapists is not guaranteed.

Practice of physiotherapy
  INSURANCE AND PRACTICE REGULATIONS   The physiotherapy services in Hungary are determined by the profession. The physiotherapist determines the clinical intervention of physiotherapy him/herself. Hungary offers both private and public physiotherapy services. The insurance cover for physiotherapy is paid through the national health care system as well as privately the patient.

Twinning
  The Hungarian Association has established a twinning program with Germany and Norway (Europe). No governmental or EU funding.
