| DETAILS | The Swiss physiotherapy association has ten staff employees and a full time employed managing director. The association holds executive meetings every 6 weeks and furthers liasions with other health care professions and authorities. | ||||||||||||

| INFORMATION AND NUMBERS | There are 4 physiotherapy locations in the country. The education results in an academic degree/diploma (BSc) after 4 years of studies. Studies allow for postgraduate courses. Switzerland has recognition of physiotherapy specialists. Physiotherapists are involved in teaching as well as research. | ||||||||||||

| TITLE AND REGULATIONS ON THE PROFESSION | Professional Title/ Qualification: Diplomierter Physiotherapeut FH (BSc) The title and the professional activity is protected by the state. The rules of professional conduct are determined directly by the state through national legislation. The physiotherapist must be state registrated and obtain a licence to practice. Switzerland has established a code of ethics for physiotherapists. There are sufficient employment opportunities for physiotherapists in the country. | ||||||||||||

| INSURANCE AND PRACTICE REGULATIONS | The physiotherapy services in Switzerland are not determined by the profession. The physiotherapist determines the clinical intervention of physiotherapy him/herself. Switzerland offers both private and public physiotherapy services. The insurance cover for physiotherapy is paid both through the national health care system and privately the patient. | ||||||||||||
